Lovin’ Life Music Fest, a new music festival by a Charlotte-based entertainment company, is set to come to Charlotte this weekend.

The three-day festival, happening in Uptown from May 3 to May 5, will include more than 40 artists across multiple genres, with performances on three stages throughout the event. Artists include Post Malone, Da Baby, Petey Pablo, Shaboozey, Stevie Nicks, The Chainsmokers, Sainted Trap Choir and more.

Around 25,000 people are expected to attend Lovin’ Life over the weekend, Bob Durkin, the producer of the event, said.

Here’s what to expect.

Safety

“Safety is our top priority,” Jackie Bradley, deputy chief of the special services group with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD), said.

Festival organizers have planned to prioritize safety and accessibility, with extensive staffing and a command center set up by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, Bradley said.

Bradley also encourages anyone who “sees something” suspicious to “say something” via the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) app.

Getting to the festival

Transportation

Those attending the music festival are encouraged to utilize public transportation. CATS is offering a weekend pass that can be purchased through April 30 for $9.00 or through May 3 for $13. The non-refundable pass can be used for unlimited rides across the Gold Line, Blue Line and bus system beginning May 3 at midnight through May 6 at 2 a.m.

CATS is also planning for additional vehicles to be running along the Bue Line and will increase special event buses.

To assist with the large crowds, CMPD will have ambassadors located at Blue Line stations to assist riders with the questions or concerns that may arise.

Festivalgoers are encouraged to use the festival app for more information.

Attendees can also utilize the local park-and-ride options where they can park and take the light rail into Uptown. Lightrail stops closest to festival activities include 7th Street Station and 9th Street Station.

Road closures

Bradley anticipates that CATS will be “very busy” over the weekend, in addition to some closures between 7th Street and 8th Street near Caldwell and Brevard.

Starting on May 1 at 10 a.m., all roads that part of the festival site will be closed.

All roads will be completely open again on May 7, Bradley said.

Residents and festivalgoers can download CMPD’s app for updated information about closure.
