Position Summary:
Wayfinders’ Family and Academic Success Coordinator (“Success Coordinator”) will connect Wayfinders families with community resources so the whole family thrives and will support the academic success of Wayfinders scholars. Family Success: the Success Coordinator will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with Wayfinders families and community resource organizations; creating and maintaining a database of relevant community resources; and sharing community resources with Wayfinders families through referrals, materials, and workshops. Academic Success: the Success Coordinator will be responsible for monitoring the academic performance of Wayfinders scholars; intervening as needed to provide academic support through connections to tutoring and other resources; facilitating the Wayfinders “Ready to Launch” curriculum for 7th – 12th graders to promote college and career readiness; connecting scholars with college and career access organizations and scholarship opportunities; and connecting scholars with job-shadowing, internship, and paid employment opportunities.
The Success Coordinator will oversee outcomes measurement relating to the impact of the above activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Family Success

a. Building Relationships – develop and maintain strong relationships with Wayfinders families, showing dignity and building trust and respect; seek to understand family needs and barriers to stability and flourishing; identify, develop, and maintain strong relationships with community resource organizations, becoming a referral partner as needed.
b. Curating Resources — become an expert on the array of community resources available in the Charlotte area relating to housing, employment, healthcare, food, utilities, mental health services, financial counseling, immigration, academic tutoring, etc.; create and maintain a database of such resources including eligibility requirements; create and curate resource materials to share with Wayfinders families.
c. Making Connections – share community resources with Wayfinders families and mentors proactively and as needs arise, including making referrals for services; develop and facilitate resource workshops for Wayfinders families and mentors when we identify gaps in community resources.

2. Academic Success

a. Monitoring Academic Progress – maintain community partner and data-sharing relationship with CMS; track academic progress on a quarterly basis including attendance and school behavior; provide quarterly reports on academic progress to executive director; develop tracking system through Power School platform for interim updates on grades and attendance; report to families on academic progress at least twice annually.
b. Providing Academic Support – identify students with academic, behavior, or attendance issues and connect them to appropriate tutoring, disability, mental health, or other resources; act as a liaison between CMS and scholars/families to access support services; leverage the Wayfinders mentor network as tutoring resources.
c. Promoting College and Career Readiness and Access – facilitate the Wayfinders “Ready to Launch” college and career readiness curriculum through monthly emails and periodic workshops; connect scholars with college and career access organizations and scholarship opportunities, primarily through our involvement in the Crescent Coalition; connect scholars with job-shadowing, internship, and paid employment opportunities; develop college persistence program for Wayfinders graduates, in conjunction with the Crescent Coalition.

3. Measuring Impact

a. Administer and report on annual surveys which gather data about our family support and academic programming;
b. Gather and analyze CMS and other academic data to determine program impact;
c. develop and administer other measurement tools as needed;
d. work with development and other program staff as needed to report on family support and academic outcomes and impact.

This position will require in-person work for some events but can be performed remotely at other times. Frequent non-traditional hours may be required for program implementation and observation, including some evening and/or weekend commitments. Occasional home visits may be required. The position reports to the Executive Director, who will conduct an annual performance review.
Experience and Skills We’re Looking For:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• At least 2 years’ program leadership/facilitation experience preferred
• Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Experience organizing, implementing, and managing multiple responsibilities under pressure
• Knowledge of community resources for under-resourced families and the social services system
• Knowledge of the public school system, including magnet lottery, disability services, graduation requirements, and the Power School platform
• Knowledge of college application process and general requirements
• Demonstrated competency working across socio-economic, racial, and cultural differences
• Ability to face challenges with creativity and empathy
• Passion for the work of Wayfinders
• Appreciation for and understanding of the work of racial justice
• Ability to represent Wayfinders to the public
• Experience working with a computer database and Microsoft Office suite
• Spanish language skills a plus

Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time, exempt position. The salary range is $50,000 – $55,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Wayfinders offers full-time employees the option of health insurance or a $400 stipend in lieu of healthcare benefits; a 401(k) with a 3% match; and generous paid, vacation, holiday, and sick leave. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
