POSITION SUMMARY:
The Facilities Coordinator will serve as a key position for the maintenance of 21 facilities and will provide direct support to the Facilities Manager and ensure that all City facilities have the most suitable working environment for employees and their activities using the best business practices to improve efficiency; coordinate and plan space requirements for all CMPD facilities; provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Facilities Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responding promptly to facility maintenance-related issues such as, but not limited to; mechanical, electrical, plumbing, furniture repairs, etc.
- Coordination of the selection of securing vendors and contractors for major projects by soliciting quotes from contractors and vendors for supplies, equipment, and services.

•Evaluate responses and provide input in the selection process; monitor the work of external contractors and vendors for compliance with applicable standards and established schedules.
•Participate in the design and construction of all City facilities to ensure that utilization policies are served, and that efficient maintenance and operation are designed into future facilities.
•Review work orders and prepare daily schedule and vendor/contractor assignments.
•Develop and manage maintenance and replacement schedules to ensure efficient and persistent operational effectiveness of City facilities.
•Managing invoices, accounts payable records, building/inspection records, and other sensitive information in accordance with CMPD guidelines.
•Assisting with writing contracts and managing vendor compliance for all facility contracts.
•May provide manual labor to aid in the successful solutions and minor building problems.
•Participate in a variety of activities requiring travel including off-site inspections.
•Assist in the planning, directing, coordinating and review work plans under the direction the Facilities Manager.
•Assist and participate in the development and administration of the Facilities Management Division’s annual budget; equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments.
•Work includes various hours and moderate travel within Mecklenburg County.
•Performing other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Graduation or Equivalent and one year of relevant work experience
OR
Associate’s Degree and no relevant work experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Associate degree
•Three years of relevant work experience
•Journey license or certification in one or more trades, such as, Limited Electrical, HVAC, or Plumbing; CPR certification to include AED training.
