Are you plugged in to events happening around the city?
Qcitymetro.com is looking for freelance writers to produce engaging web stories and content about entertainment that appeals to (primarily) Black readers in the Charlotte area.
Freelance writers report to the Managing Editor. Assignments may be predetermined, but we’re always looking for great ideas. You’ll create content ranging from:
- roundups of hot-ticket events to word-of-mouth kickbacks;
- features on homegrown talent to high-profile entertainers; and
- entertainment previews/reviews to localizing national stories.
You’re a natural storyteller who’s outgoing, self-directed, detail-oriented, and most importantly, understands newsworthiness for our audience.
You know how to get quality smartphone photos and video to capture the essence of your web stories.
You manage an engaging, active social media presence.
Qcitymetro.com launched in 2008 as one of the nation’s first digital-only news organizations created to serve a local, Black audience.
Qcitymetro promotes Black excellence, social connectedness and civic engagement via an informed and collective voice online and in person.
