QCity Metro needs a visionary. (In some media circles, this person is called an editor.)
QCity Metro (qcitymetro.com) was launched in 2008 with a mission to provide news and other digital content for the growing population of Black residents in Charlotte, NC. — a majority-minority city that is seeing explosive growth.
QCity Metro was among the nation’s first digital-only platforms created to serve a local Black audience. Since then, we have grown side by side with the city we love.
In the coming months, QCity Metro will launch several new initiatives that are vital to the next phase of our development. So, with that in mind, we are looking for a person who craves an entrepreneurial adventure.
This editor understands that the media landscape is ever evolving. Our ideal candidate will embrace that change and seek competitive advantage for QCity Metro through innovation, analytics, and superior content. This editor is a connoisseur of current media trends and enjoys coaching young reporters. This individual also enjoys being part of a leadership team that is committed to growth and journalistic excellence. Among other duties, this hire will lead our newsroom in the production of our daily newsletter, which is a company priority.
This ideal editor should not be afraid to try new things and suggest strategies that will benefit the company, the audience we serve as well as the advertisers and sponsors who support us financially.
- At least five years of newsroom experience
- Attention to detail in editing content and grammar
- Must live in Charlotte or be willing to relocate
This is a full-time position with benefits.
