Performs responsible semiskilled work communicating with the general public, opening, closing and monitoring facility operations and assisting with recreational activities; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Cultural Recreation Manager.
Essential Function of the Job
Answering the telephone; registering participants; assisting program participants.

Performs customer service and receptionist activities including answering the telephone
Registers participants for programs and events.
Collects program fees and accounts for assets.
Updates participants with class information.
Reports problems with the facility such as burnt out lights, alarm or elevator problems.
Assigns cleaning or other tasks to community service workers.
Unlocks internal doors for classes; operates heating and air-conditioning system in the facility.
Oversees the conduct and safety of facility users and renters.
Operates the alarm and security systems in the facility.
Helps set up and tear down for special events; helps decorate rooms for special events.
Conducts cleaning of building and grounds as needed; maintains supplies in restrooms and other items as needed.
Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Some knowledge of the methods and practices applied in office/receptionist work; Working knowledge of office equipment and light maintenance; Good writing and problem solving skills; Ability to establish effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education equivalent to some coursework from high school and some experience in recreational programming, facility management, office work, or related field.
This is light and medium work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arms length, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. The worker may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, cleaning products, and chemicals and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
