Community Dream Builders will host the exhibit, Through this Lens, in partnership with Deepti Panjabi who created and curated the exhibit while a Creative Interventionists fellow. The exhibit will be showcased in the Lockwood Legends @ 240 Sylvania space through until June 30. The exhibit was previously housed at the Levine Museum of the New South.
The Through This Lens project holds space for Charlotte immigrants to connect, be heard and seen, and to share in our collective immigrant pride. The exhibit seeks to make meaning of the immigrant experience, inspiring the community to take action and use the power of our voice.
For Charlotteans who do not identify as immigrants, Through This Lens aspires to offer an in depth view into the immigrant experience.
As the non-immigrant community learns from these multiple perspectives, our hope is to encourage an appreciation for the stories, their complexity, and the myths they dispel.
Through this concept, Community Dream Builders will provide a place where local artists and community advocates will work on collaborative projects benefiting the community.
