The Cherry Reunion & Parade

Saturday, August 31, 2019
The historic Cherry Neighborhood will be “Celebrating 128 Years of History, Heritage and Community” this year during its Annual Cherry Reunion & Parade. The Reunion & Parade will be held during Labor Day weekend, on Saturday, August 31, 2019, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The event will be held in the Cherry Neighborhood Park, located at 1509 Baxter Street. The Parade will begin at 11:00 AM in front of the Historic Morgan School.

Cherry’s first Reunion & Parade celebration was held in the 1940s in an effort to keep neighbors connected to the history and essence or "soul" of Cherry--Charlotte’s first neighborhood platted especially to provide homeownership opportunities for laborers and working class African-Americans. We are proud to be able to continue this legacy and hope that you will join us for this year’s celebration as we recognize and honor Cherry's oldest living resident, Mrs. Carrie Springs (102 years of age), and Cherry's oldest longtime resident still residing in the community, Mrs. Louvora Hare (95 years of age), among others. There will be lots of great food, entertainment and activities for the whole family.

The Annual Cherry Reunion & Parade is being co-sponsored by: The Cherry Community Organization and The Historic Cherry Neighborhood Association. We’re Proud to Be “Cherry...Since 1891…and Still Leaving a Legacy for Generations to Come!”

We hope to see you on Saturday, August 31, 2019 for the Annual Cherry Reunion & Parade. For questions or additional information please contact HistoricCherry1891@gmail.com.
