The Reentry Housing Alliance (RHA) will host a Reentry Simulation & Seminar on Monday, December 9 from 1:30 – 4:00 PM. The program will be a mini-reentry simulation combined with a brief reentry housing education presentation at the Valerie Woodard Conference Center, 3205 Freedom Drive, Room 4000.
The focus of the Reentry Simulation & Seminar is to help the community overcome traditional biases by better understanding the challenges our neighbors with records face almost daily. The intended outcome is to motivate property owners, managers and landlords to commit to a “ban the box” strategy, removing the “convicted felon” question from their rental application form and initial interviews.
THIS SESSION WILL RAISE AWARENESS OF REENTRY BARRIERS AND CONSEQUENCES.
The seminar will focus on defining reentry housing issues in non-biased terms through:
• Personal testimonies from people experiencing reentry housing challenges
• A simulation of the challenges people with records face upon reentering the community
• A sample of reentry services provided through private/public partnership
