Making African American History in Charlotte’s West End

Retired Levine Museum historian Dr. Tom Hanchett shares new research from the McCrorey Heights neighborhood near Johnson C. Smith University — home to key Civil Rights activists of the 1950s-70s. With oral history videos by filmmaker Ken Koontz, through a grant from Arts & Science Council.

All New South for the New Southerner programs are hosted by retired Levine Museum historian Dr. Tom Hanchett. Each program is $20 for non-members (25% discount for members) and includes program, a Southern chicken dinner from Mert’s Heart and Soul, and a cash bar. Space is limited, reservations required.
