Inalienable rights: Living history through the eyes of the enslaved

Join the Slave Dwelling Project for a one-of-a-kind living history event!

Families are invited to visit the grounds of the President James K. Polk Historic Site where costumed historians will weave tales inspired by the lives of enslaved African Americans. In addition, living historians will demonstrate various skills and trades and family-friendly activities will be on offer.
