Are YOU Recycling Right? Mecklenburg County Solid Waste serves all residents within the county by operating the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) to process curbside recycling, receiving over 400 tons of recyclables each day. Unfortunately, 15-19% of the material received from curbside recycling collection is actually not recyclable at our facility.
These wishfully recycled items (trash) clog the sorting machines and can injure workers. It's very expensive to separate and dispose of trash (non-recyclables) at the facility. In fact, improper recycling costs Mecklenburg County over $1.5 Million each year. Therefore, Mecklenburg County has partnered with the City of Charlotte and the State of North Carolina to better educate residents on our communities’ recycling services. Join us to learn how and why to always Recycling Right!
