Dvorak's fiery masterpiece, Symphony No. 9, "From the New World," blends the music of his Bohemian roots with tuneful impressions of a fascinating new world full of new sounds. Schumann's stormy Overture to Manfred was inspired by a work by Lord Byron.

Venezuelan-American conductor Ilyich Rivas makes his Charlotte debut.
