The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another injured Saturday night in south Charlotte.

According to a statement by CMPD, shortly after 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting into an occupied dwelling call for service in the 5000 block of Cherrycrest Lane. 

When officers got there, they found two victims with gunshot wounds. 

Police said Medic transported one victim to the hospital, where they pronounced the victim deceased. The second victim was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
