Angel Adams started her new role as vice president of finance and administration at Charlotte Symphony on Monday.
Adams will supervise account operations, office administration and strategic financial plans.
She graduated from Clemson University with a bachelor’s of arts in economics and a bachelor’s of science in math sciences. Before this role, she held other accounting positions at Walmart, Black & Decker US and Continental Tire.
Adams said in a statement, “I’m especially proud to be able to roll up my sleeves and get to work in support of an organization that has such strong community programs, in addition to its incredible performances in venues throughout Charlotte.”

How will working with a symphony differ from previous accounting positions?
I think that remains to be seen!
But the orchestra world is new to me, and I’m very much looking forward to working with the wonderful musicians of the Charlotte Symphony.
What led you to transition to this new role?
To be honest, I work hard and enjoy what I do. I found that I missed the “heart work” of nonprofit organizations that goes along with the hard work. I longed to be once again a part of supporting an organization that supports our community.
What will a normal day look like for you?
Busy! The project list will be continual for some time as I grasp an understanding of the financial systems and processes in place at the CSO. I organize my to-do list by projects and try to block out time daily to focus on the highest priorities. However, I feel like the team here is extremely collaborative, which will make settling into this job easier.
What big plans do you have for the organization that we should know about?
For years, I have relied on the principles of Six Sigma to drive financial processes to [become] repeatable and sustainable efficiencies, which results in cost savings. My big plan is to tackle the little things that make a big difference.
