Avery Love (second from left) was promoted to the rank of Eagle Scout during a Sunday ceremony at First Baptist Church-West.

Love, a member of Troop 107 and a senior at Lake Norman Charter School, has earned 36 merit badges — 15 more than the number required to become an Eagle Scout.

His brother, Anthony “A.J.” Love (third from left), became an Eagle Scout in 2018 and is now a senior at North Carolina A&T State University.

Their parents are Pamela Love and George Anthony Love.

Troop 107, which is chartered under The Park Church, has produced at least 29 Eagle Scouts. Only about 5 percent of all Boy Scouts attain the rank, according to various scouting websites.

Founder and publisher of Qcitymetro, Glenn has worked at newspapers including the Los Angeles Times, St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Wall Street Journal and The Charlotte Observer.
