Atrium Health received a $5 million donation to increase accessibility to careers in healthcare.
People from marginalized communities will have access to programs that will support them in their health career pursuits.
The donation came from Ally Charitable Foundation to establish a workforce development center and a scholarship fund.
The fund will provide $50,000 scholarships for students to attend Atrium Health’s Carolinas College of Health Sciences.
Participants, as well as graduates of Johnson C. Smith University, qualify for the scholarship and can enroll in many of the courses that Atrium Health offers.
Ali Summerville, who heads of the Ally Charitable Foundation, said the organization is looking to make a “measurable impact for under-represented communities.”
