Charlotte Black Restaurant Week kicks off this week.

The sixth annual week is here to bringing much-appreciated support to some of Charlotte’s Black-owned restaurants and eateries.

Locations like Cuzzo’s Cuisine, Mr. Seafood, and Ruthie’s Restaurant are offering up to half off regular menu prices.

Through the end of October, you can support by dining in or ordering takeout from a participating restaurant.

Cuzzo’s Cuisine

Cuzzo’s Cuisine, recently opened its second location in University City. Co-owner Andarrio Johnson told QCity Metro that the second location is “just the beginning” of his new franchise. 

Customer favorite: Lobster Mac’n’Cheese.

Ruthie’s Restaurant

Ruthie’s has been in business for 50 years. The restaurant originally opened in Brooklyn, N.Y., before setting up shop in the Queen City. This restaurant, which serves southern food, expanded to Charlotte in 2013.

Mr. Seafood

Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, this popular seafood restaurant is known for its Garlic Butter Sauce.

The Nappy Chef

This local spot won the 2012 Queen City Awards for “Restaurant of the Year.” The menu has classic items like wings, loaded fries, and signature dishes like their “lobster cheesesteak.”

G.R.I.T.S CLT

G.R.I.T.S. stands for Girls Raised in the South. This catering company fuses southern food with the Caribbean. Creole, Spanish and African cuisine.

Round the Way Eatery 

As the name suggests, Round the Way is a food truck based out of Charlotte, North Carolina, with a menu reminiscent of the flavors of Buffalo, New York.

Hip Hop Smoothies began as a food truck in 2018 and has since opened three locations in Charlotte. The smoothies names are callbacks to hip-hop culture.
