Details continue to crystalize for the second annual BayHaven Food & Wine Festival, scheduled for Oct. 19-23 in Charlotte.

The event will feature nearly 100 Black chefs and mixologists from across the country.

Wednesday, Oct. 19

Freshman Orientation Farm Dinner: This Friends of James Beard Benefit dinner will feature six courses and four wine pairings from featured participants:

  • Host chef/JBF Award Nominee Gregory Collier, Bayhaven Restaurant Group, Charlotte
  • Kenyatta Ashford, Neutral Ground, Chattanooga, Tennessee
  • Tavel Bristol-Joseph, Emmer Hospitality Group, Austin, Texas
  • JBF Award Semifinalist Cleophus Hethington, Ębí Chop Bar, Atlanta
  • JBF Award Winner Ricky Moore, Saltbox Seafood Joint, Durham, N.C.
  • JBF Award Semifinalist Keith Rhodes, Catch, Wilmington, Delaware
  • Tiesha Whittaker, Buttermilk Boutique, Clayton, N.C.

Time: Appetizers and cocktail reception begins at 6 p.m.; dinner at 7:15 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 20

Homeroom Midday Symposium: This event will feature panel discussions addressing the state of the Black hospitality industry. Included is a family-style lunch with wine pairings.

Participants will include Bernard Singleton of Nebedaye Farms, Cherie Jzar of Deep Roots Farm, Anela Malik of Feed The Malik, writer Nikki Miller-Ka, KJ Kearney of Black Food Fridays and many more.

Time: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Place: Johnson & Wales University, 801 W Trade St.
Cost: $75 per person.

Chef Zoe And Friends: An all-women dinner led by chef Zoe Adjonyoh, author of “Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen” and director of women’s leadership programs at the James BeardFoundation. Will feature six courses and three cocktail pairings. Featured participants include:

Seafood 202 Dinner: A six-course dinner featuring wine pairings and live music al fresco. Featured chefs:
