A new Black-owned chain restaurant will make its debut soon in University City.
Harold’s Chicken and Ice Bar, originally based in Chicago, was founded by Black businessman, Harold Pierce.
According to the restaurant’s website, they’re known for their special sauces and uniquely prepared chicken.
Other locations have been opened in Indiana, Detroit, Milwaukee, Las Vegas, Madison, Dallas, Atlanta and now Charlotte.
The University City location will be owned by brother/sister duo Eliot Mosby and Bobbie Robinson, both of whom are from Chicago.
Mosby owns another restaurant in New Jersey called Montclair Diner.
Harold’s Chicken and Ice Bar’s menu features chicken, fish and classic southern appetizer’s like fried green tomatoes.
A post on the Charlotte location’s official instagram says that the team is working hard to bring the Chicago and Atlanta “vibe” to Charlotte.
According to that same post, the target opening is mid June.
