A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer was involved in an apparent shooting Wednesday evening.

According a statement by CMPD, officers were patrolling in search of a vehicle that was recently reported stolen off of Farmhurst Drive.

Officers found a vehicle that matched the same description of the victim’s vehicle at an extended stay motel.

While officers were speaking to the two occupants inside the vehicle, a passenger exited from the car and left the scene.

According to reports, the driver tried to run over the officers when they tried to detain them. One officer discharged his firearm toward the driver.

The driver drove off in a grey Ford Fusion, and officers are actively looking for the individual.

No officers were injured during the shooting, CMPD said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 704-432-TIPS to speak with a homicide detective, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
