What brought you here? I have visited Charlotte for many years and decided to make the move once my two daughters left for college. I focused my career search on the nonprofit sector and am happy to be part of an organization that does so much good throughout the community.
What do you like best about Charlotte? It has just the right mix of a metropolitan atmosphere with great options for the arts and entertainment, professional sports, great shopping and restaurants, plus distinctive neighborhoods. I feel a strong sense of community here. I am originally from Huntington, West Virginia, and Charlotte reminds me of a bigger version of where and how I grew up.
What do you like least about Charlotte? The daily commute to work takes some getting used to, but I figured out pretty quickly that 10 minutes can make a huge difference for my drive time.
How do you hope to get involved in the community? I have a passion for helping people and look forward to making an impact through volunteerism with a few other nonprofits and my sorority, Delta Sigma Theta. I havenāt met many people outside of work just yet, but I know that will change for the better.
Whatās been your most memorable moment since moving here? My daughters were home from college recently, and I had a chance to show them around the city. They are excited to come here during their college breaks. As a mother, that means the world to me. Everything is falling into place quite nicely, although there are still some boxes to unpack.
