If you’ve driven by Sports One Bar and Lounge in uptown Charlotte, you’ve likely noticed the “Closed for Renovation” sign on the window. On Monday, the Charlotte Business Journal reported that the bar owes nearly $237,000 in unpaid taxes dating from December 2016 to December 2017.
In addition, WSOC reported that bar owner Peter Thomas is being sued for $126,000 for his Bar One property, located next door to Sports One. The suit alleges that Thomas wrote bad checks, failed to pay rent and taxes, and ripped out bathrooms and failed to renovate the space, the station reported on its website.
Thomas took to his Instagram account on Tuesday with a screenshot of a TMZ headline above his caption, “Hard work never stop over here, got to get these people their money, The shuffle hustle is real.”
No official word when or if Sports One will re-open. As of Wednesday morning, the sports bar’s windows were all papered over.
There’s also no status update on Thomas’ Club One at AvidXchange Music Factory, which is listed as permanently closed on Yelp.
According to published reports, the former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star has been turning his attention to opening his Bar One Restaurant and Lounge in Miami Beach.
