What’s Happening, CLT: Our curated list of weekend events

There's plenty to do in Charlotte, so get out this weekend and have some fun.

I’m sure by now you’ve heard about this new battle to determine the best fast-food fried chicken sandwich. Popeyes has introduced a sandwich that rivals Chick-fil-A — considered by many to be the best poultry between two slices of bread.

Popeyes locations across the country completely ran out of its new sandwich. The other night, I had a chance to witness the fowl frenzy for myself. As I rode past the location on North Tryon Street, cars were wrapped around the building, the parking lot was full and the restaurant was packed.

As a vegetarian, I’m not taking part in the madness. Don’t feel bad for me, though; Burger King just started serving Impossible Whoppers, a plant-based option, which I tried for the first time last week. I actually liked it.

To be honest, as a Black person, I cringe at the optics of us fighting over the best fried chicken, but I get it. Plus, it does seem like everyone is into trying the sandwich.

Have you tried it? Are you Team Chick-fil-A or Team Popeyes?
