Last Sunday, we checked out “The Session CLT,” featuring the Hamiltones, Tweet, Cyanca, Brave Entertainment and The XMEN. Quentin Talley stood in as emcee, and DJ Fannie Mae was spinning throughout the evening.

The sold-out event was a great vibe. Big shout out to the ladies of Brave Entertainment for putting that event together and everyone who came out to support.

And just like that, it’s August.

Did you know August is National Black Business Month? If ever there was a time to support local Black-owned businesses, this would be the month. We’ve highlighted 10 stories to kick off the month.

If you don’t regularly support Black-owned businesses, I challenge you to make a commitment to support some throughout August (and hopefully beyond).

Forecast: Chances for thunderstorms all weekend. Daytime highs in the low- to mid-80s, overnight lows around 70.

Have a great weekend, Charlotte.
