A boy who celebrated his 16th birthday on Sunday was shot and killed early Wednesday when someone shot into a home in northwest Charlotte.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police identified the victim as Jayvon Christopher Goolsby. The department did not indicate whether Goolsby was the shooter’s intended target. As of mid-morning, CMPD had announced no arrest.

The shooting was reported at 5:43 a.m. in the 6200 block of Ohaus Court, just north of Sunset Road near Hornets Nest Park.

According to a CMPD statement, Goolsby died in the home.
