As the 2019 NBA All-Star Weekend draws closer, details for high-profile events keep rolling in. The latest? Comedian Dave Chappelle is gracing the stage at Belk Theater on Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.

If you’ve ever tried to attend a Chappelle performance, then you know tickets typically sell out in no time. If you’re trying to be in the building, have a plan ready. Tickets go on sale Saturday, Feb. 9 at 12 p.m. and can be purchased at BlumenthalArts.org, by phone at 704-372-1000 or at the Belk Theater Box Office (130 N. Tryon St.).

Other things to know:

  • Print your tickets in advance or pick them up at will call. Mobile ticketing will not be available.
  • No cellphones, cameras or recording devices allowed. Seriously, you’ll be escorted out.
  • Phones and smart watches will live in Yondr lockable pouches during the show and will be unlocked at the end. (You can unlock at designated Yondr stations in the lobby.)

Best known for his widely popular Comedy Central sketch series Chappelle’s Show, which ran from 2003 to 2006, Chappelle may be equally known for walking away from the critically acclaimed show and the $50 million deal that went along with it. After a hiatus, the comedic genius returned to stand up. But, it was his $60 million Netflix deal that solidified his return and that he was better than ever.

So, in the spirit of basketball, I leave you with ‘Game, Blouses.’
