Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating after a man was fatally shot inside an east Charlotte business early Monday.
Authorities identified the victim as Elchin Khalilov, 29.
Officers were called to the 3100 block of N. Sharon Amity Road shortly before 11 p.m. in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim died after he was taken to a hospital.
WSOC TV reported that the shooting happened inside a cell phone repair story and that the victim worked there. The station, citing store employees, said robbery was the motive. CMPD did not confirm those details.
As of 6 p.m., no arrest had been announced.
