Police search for shooter after victim found dead in roadway

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are trying to determine who shot and killed a man late Sunday in southwest Charlotte.

The shooting was reported at 10:28 p.m. in the 14300 block of Carolina Forest Road, just east of the Steel Creek community.

Officers had gone to the area to investigate a report that shots had been fired into an occupied dwelling. While there, they heard gunfire nearby.

The victim, who died at the scene, was found lying in the roadway. His name was withheld until family members could be notified.

A SWAT team was deployed to search for the shooter. No arrest was announced.
