A pedestrian who was struck by a police car in southwest Charlotte has died from injuries he sustained, CMPD announced late Sunday.

The victim, 80-year-old Arnulfo Salazar, died Sunday at Carolinas Medical Center.

Salazar was critically injured on Thursday when he was struck by a marked patrol car in the 11000 block of South Tryon Street, near the intersection Moss Road.

Investigators say Salazar ran into the path of an off-duty officer, who was driving the patrol car around 6:15 p.m. The collision happened in an area not marked for pedestrians.

The officer, 27-year-old Jeffrey Blake Page, was not charged. The investigation continues, CMPD said.
