CMPD: Woman dies after she was shot near uptown

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a fatal shooting that was reported early Monday on N. Tryon Street, just beyond the uptown area.

Authorities withheld the victim’s name pending notification of family members.

Just before 4 a.m., police were dispatched to the 900 block of N. Tryon, where they found a woman with apparent gunshot wounds. She died at Carolinas Medical Center.

Detectives believe the victim and suspect knew one another.
