CMPD is investigating a deadly shooting that was reported early today in southeast Charlotte.

The shooting was reported just before 8 a.m. in the 5500 block of Firelight Lane, which is near Independence Boulevard just south of Albemarle Road.

When officers arrived, they found a male with a gunshot wound inside an apartment. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

According to a CMPD public information officer, investigators were questioning a woman who was inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.

CMPD withheld the dead man’s name pending notification of family members.
