CMPD arrested a 14-year-old boy Saturday and charged him with making threats against another student at Druid Hills Elementary School.
Because of the boy’s age, police did not release his identity.
A CMPD spokesman said the incident began with an altercation between the two students on a school bus. The boy sent threatening text messages to his female victim, police said, including a picture on Facebook that showed him holding a handgun.
The teen was charged with communicating threats and was released him to a guardian. Officers searched the boy’s home and found the gun he was holding in the picture.
As the nation still copes with a school shooting in Florida that left 17 dead, CMPD said its officers have been making “regular zone check(s) at all schools to ensure the safety of the students and staff.”
