Tai’Quan Rodgers, 23, has been arrested and charged with assaulting a 94-year-old woman and then sexually assaulting the woman’s 72-year daughter.

Police say the women were attacked Dec. 9 in their home on Farmer Street in west Charlotte.

Police arrested Rodgers on Monday and charged him with sexual battery, 1st -degree burglary and assault on a female. He was booked in Mecklenburg jail.

The women told police they were asleep in their apartment when they awoke to a noise and saw an unknown man inside their residence. The 94-year-old woman told police the suspect assaulted her and then sexually assaulted her daughter before leaving.

According to CMPD, detectives “gathered information and evidence that led them in identifying Rodgers as a suspect in this case.”

A CMPD public information officer said detectives are reviewing similar cases to determine if Rodgers might be responsible for other crimes.

Jail records show that Rodgers was arrested in May 2017 and charged with several counts, including carrying a concealed weapon, assault by pointing a gun and possession of a controlled substance. He was a felon at the time of that arrest, which precluded him from legally carrying a gun. He was arrested two months later and charged with violating probation.
