Jarquavise Demonta White, 16, was shot and killed early Saturday outside his home in north Charlotte.

As of Saturday afternoon, CMPD had not named a suspect or announced a motive.

According to an initial police report, White stepped outside his home in the 2400 bock of Carmine Street around midnight. His family told police that a short time later they heard gunshots and found the teen lying in the yard.

He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Main, where he was pronounced dead.
