16-year-old boy is Charlotte’s latest homicide victim

Police said the teen has stepped outside his home around midnight Saturday before his family heard gunshots.

Jarquavise Demonta White, 16, was shot and killed early Saturday outside his home in north Charlotte.

As of Saturday afternoon, CMPD had not named a suspect or announced a motive.

According to an initial police report, White stepped outside his home in the 2400 bock of Carmine Street around midnight. His family told police that a short time later they heard gunshots and found the teen lying in the yard.

He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Main, where he was pronounced dead.
