There’s a lot happening around town this weekend from opportunities to create art, learn to dance and kickboxing for a great cause. Plus, if you love the 90s, there’s a fun bar crawl with your name all over it. Or maybe, you’re into 70s fashion. If so, you can rock your biggest afro and help raise money for charity.

Bechtler By Night: New Year, New You!
Friday @ Bechtler Museum of Modern Art
Bechtler By Night lets you experience the museum galleries for free from 5-9 p.m. every third Friday of the month. Gather friends and view the extensive Bechtler collection under the cover of the night sky. Plus, this month you can enjoy making a window hanging based on the stained glass works found in the second floor Aflred Manessier exhibition, as well as painting your own abstract watercolor paintings. AfroPop! Charlotte, Vol.18: Afrobeats, Soca, Fashion & Vendors
Saturday @ Morehead Tavern
The first AfroPop! Nation event of 2018 is here. This edition is bringing back popular soca dance queen Keisha Bridgeman of Socafitusa/Socacise to kick off the festivities and provide dance instruction from 9 to 10 p.m. Kizomba Alegria Charlotte Dance is providing Kizomba related instruction and dance upstairs as usual. Come Draw with Me!

Museum of York County’s annual “Come Draw with Me!” offers an opportunity to draw along with Piedmont regional artists at work around the museum’s galleries. Look over an artist’s shoulder as a drawing comes to life. Plus, feel free to bring your sketch pad and pencils and draw from museum collections. More info

Dream Gala 2018

Dream on 3’s Annual Dream Gala is one of Charlotte’s most anticipated events of the year. This exclusive event is Dream On 3’s largest fundraiser and will provide the means to make sports dreams come true for very deserving children. More than 400 people, including professional athletes, are expected to attend. More info
