Rep. Alma Adams undergoes medical procedure

The 71-year-old congresswoman underwent a procedure to correct nerve damage in one of her shoulders, her office announced Monday.

U.S. Rep. Alma S. Adams said she will miss votes in the House of Representatives while recovering from a medical procedure.

In a statement released by her office today, Adams said underwent a surgical procedure last week to correct nerve damage in one of her shoulders.

“At my doctor’s request, I will be taking some time away to recover and I look forward to returning to work very soon,” she said.

Adams, 71, represents North Carolina’s 12th congressional district, which includes much of Charlotte. Here office did not announce a date for her return to work.
