Charlotte-Mecklenburg police released a surveillance photo of a person suspected of killing on-duty clerk inside a 7-Eleven store in southwest Charlotte.

The photo, taken moments before the shooting, shows a person of indeterminate race and gender wearing a hooded jacket with face covered. The subject also appears to be wearing dark glasses.

Beyond the photo, police released no description of the suspect.

Homicide detectives said the person in the photo is suspected of killing 55-year-old Khaled Mohamad Elmerkabaoui, who was shot Saturday, Dec. 9.

Anyone with information leading to an arrest is eligible for a $5,000 reward from Crime Stoppers. In addition, 7-Eleven is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone with information leading to an arrest.

As detectives search for the killer, CMPD released photos of several people (below), described as potential witnesses, who may have been in or at the store near the time of the shooting.
