A 7-Eleven worker was shot and killed early Saturday while on duty inside a store in southwest Charlotte.

Customers entering the store reported the shooting at 3:21 a.m. in the 700 block of Westinghouse Boulevard, just beyond the Interstate 485 beltway.

When police arrived, the found an adult male with apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Police did not say what prompted the shooting.

CMPD withheld the victim’s name pending notification of family members.
