CMPD: Man tried to kidnap girl at Southern Christmas Show

Police said the suspect let the child go and fled when witnesses approached him.

CMPD is investigating an attempted kidnapping of an 11-year-old girl who walking with her family at the Southern Christmas Show.

The incident was reported at 7:29 p.m. on Saturday at the Park Expo & Conference Center on Briar Creek Road.

According to a police report, a man approached the girl and tried to walk off with her. When witnesses approached the man, he released the child and fled.

The man was described as possibly being of Middle Eastern decent, about 5-foot-8-inches tall and weighing 150-170 pounds. He was wearing a blue shirt and red beanie. He was with a female who was also possibly of Middle Eastern decent who was pushing a stroller.
