Police: N. Charlotte woman fought off sexual attacker

The victim told police she was attacked while asleep inside her home.

CMPD is investigating a sexual assault that happened early Thursday in the Derita community in north Charlotte.

The incident was reported at 12:50 a.m. in the 4500 block of Wynbrook Way. When officers arrived, a victim told police she was asleep inside of her residence when she awoke to a male attempting to sexually assault her. The victim said she fought back and the man fled.

The suspect was described as black, approximately 20-25 years old with a thin build and 6 feet tall.
