This week I celebrated my birthday by giving back through volunteerism at Samaritan House, a recovery home for injured homeless residents. If you are looking for an opportunity to serve humanity, check out Samaritan House.
Saxophonist Dante Lewis out of Columbia was in town for the monthly United in Jazz event in uptown Charlotte. The house was full to capacity.
I’ve followed Dante for several years. He’s one on my favorite sax players. Keep him on radar for his tribute album to Anita Baker.
Roco Rotisserie & Bar opened last week in the Midwood Plaza area (1332 Central Ave). It sells a variety of chicken combos — chicken and dumplings, chicken pot pie, chicken salad, and much more. Prices are reasonable.
