A 30-year-old man traveling on Freedom Drive was killed late Monday after his car collided with a pickup truck that, according to police, was speeding.
CMPD said Jason Edward Black died from his injuries at Carolinas Medical Center.
Black, driving a Suzuki SX4, was attempting to make a U-turn at Alleghany Street when the two vehicles crashed, according to an initial CMPD report.
The other driver, Kianna Yanee Cockfield, 44, was driving a
Chevrolet Silverado. Neither Cockfield nor a passenger in the truck was injured.
Cockfield was arrested on charges of involuntary manslaughter, careless and reckless driving, and speeding.
