Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested three people – two women and a man — in connection with a fatal shooting on Oct. 12.
CMPD identified the suspects as Bobby Smith Jr., 30; Shamekia Hill, 25; and Felicia Woods, 24.
Police said the three were involved in the killing of Detavious Springs, 24.
Detectives believe the shooting happened shortly before 3:40 p.m. near the intersection of Farmer Street at Romare Bearden Dr. in west Charlotte.
According to CMPD, the victim had agreed to meet with the women for a drug deal, but prior to that meeting, police said, the women conspired with Smith to rob Springs.
At some point during the robbery, police said, shots were fired. Springs died at Carolinas Medical Center while undergoing surgery.
Police arrested Hill on Oct. 17 and charged her with attempted murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Woods was arrested Oct. 23 and charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Police arrested Smith on Oct. 26 and charged him with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Mecklenburg jail records show he had been arrested three times previously, most recently in May on drug and gun charges.
