What’s Happening, Charlotte: 17 Fun Things to Do this Weekend (Oct. 19-22)

From Arsenio Hall to an urban bike experience, the qcity has a lot going on this weekend. Get out and have some fun.

Fall has arrived. The chill is in the air. This weekend there will be lots of Halloween-themed festivities happening around the city.

Check out the wine tastings at the South End Wine Festival, bring the kids out for pumpkin decorating classes, or dress up the family pup for Howl-O-Ween.

COMMUNITY CALENDAR + FAMILY FUN

Lecrae – All Things Work Together Tour – Food for Hungry Volunteer
Thursday @ The Fillmore Charlotte | 1000 North Carolina Music Factory Blvd. | 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Volunteers will be helping people sign up to sponsor a child. Volunteers will hand out packets at the exits and entrances and assist at the Food For the Hungry table(s) during intermission and after the show. AGE REQUIREMENTS: 18+ (15 – 17 with adult) Details

Flying Above the Clouds of Adversity: A Screening and Celebration of Black Combat Pilots
Friday @ Gantt Center | 551 South Tryon St. | 6 p.m. – 8p.m.
At age 95, former Tuskegee Airman Alexander Jefferson is still going strong! The once held prisoner-of-war was shot out of the skies in Europe and held by the Germans between 1944 and 1945, as World War II ended. This former school teacher, lecturer, author and Detroit native is the subject of this award-winning documentary. (Details)

ThinkItUp Challenge: CardBurg
Saturday @ Discovery Place Science | 301 North Tryon St | 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Design and build a city out of cardboard. Think It Up Challenges are an opportunity to collaborate on large-scale, unique design challenges intended to get visitors engaged in engineering. (Details)

Jack-O-Lantern Jam Family Workshop

Join CSA for this fall harvest celebration of all things spooky, scary, creative and fun! This family workshop celebrates Halloween and the Mexican Day of the Dead by decorating plastic Jack-o-lantern pails in wild colors and collage materials, with additional activities including papel picado and other Mexican crafts. Mini-Masters Saturday Art Workshop
