JCSU’s Homecoming Week promises comedy, music and, of course, football

Stars from Nick Cannon’s “Wildin’ Out” and the Breakfast Club morning show are coming to celebrate the week-long event

Homecoming week for Johnson C. Smith University is in full swing. If you missed the Sunday Gospel Explosion or Monday’s 5K Run/Outdoor Movie Night, there are still plenty of events set for every day this week.

Here is your guide to JCSU Homecoming:

Tuesday

7 p.m.
Stars from MTV’s “Wildin’ Out” will be taking over JCSU campus for a live show. Chico Bean and Karlous Miller along with hosts Burpie and DJ Stampede Beats will be presenting a comedy show in Biddle Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for JCSU students and $15 for general admission.

Wednesday

Wednesday is Divine Nine Power Day on campus, so be sure to wear your Black Greek paraphernalia. There will be student and alumni panels throughout the day.

12 noon
Career and Student Affairs will host a panel discussion in the Student Union.

6:30 – 8 p.m.
There will be an “Up Close and Personal with JCSU alumni” discussion at the New Science Center. This event is open to students and alumni.

7 – 9:30 p.m.
“Role of Black Greek Letter Organizations in HBCU Campus Life” panel in the Grimes Lounge. The school encourages you bring plastic shopping bags and bottles for a recycling service project. This panel is open to all students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

11 p.m. – 1 a.m.
The day will conclude with Chicken and Waffles Midnight Breakfast hosted by DJ Stampede inside the Student Union Cafeteria.

Thursday

6 p.m.
JCSU’s Royal Coronation will be at Biddle Auditorium where the homecoming court’s king and queen will be announced.

7:30 p.m.
Dr. Jeffery A. Smith Scholarship Fundraiser will take place at Hilton Charlotte University Place. Click here to purchase tickets.

9 – 10:30 p.m.
Brayboy Madness, the unofficial start to the Golden Bulls’ 2017-2018 basketball season will take place at 9 p.m. in Brayboy Gymnasium. The rally will also commemorate the women’s CIAA 2017 victory.

Friday

8:30 a.m.
The day begins bright and early with 100 Club Golf Tournament at Emerald Lake Golf Club. For more information on the 2017 Annual Golf Classic, click here.

3 p.m.
Pep rally hosted by Power 98’s Ms. Jessica The Girl Next Door in Brayboy Gymnasium will feature DJ Stampede Beats and a special guest.

5 – 9 p.m.
Rooftop party at Mosaic Village wraps up the night from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. hosted by DJ Stampede

Saturday

8:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Before the big game, a Jazz Breakfast will be hosted at the Sheraton Airport Hotel (Charlotte Alumni Chapter)

10 a.m. – 12 noon
The Homecoming Parade will run along Beatties Ford Road from West Charlotte High to JCSU campus.

11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
JCSU will host its 8th annual FestiVille celebration. The carnival-style event will feature food trucks, music, games, and more.

1 p.m.
JCSU’s Golden Bulls kickoff their homecoming football game against the Shaw University Bears.

4 -7 p.m.
The Soul Food Dinner will be served in the Student Union Cafeteria and Grimes Lounge. Plates will cost $15.

7 p.m.
The NPHC Step Show hosted by Angela Yee from The Breakfast Club will take place in Brayboy Gymnasium. Tickets are $10 for JCSU students and Greeks with paraphernalia and $15 for general admission.
