Ashanti Billie

A 19-year-old woman who disappeared two weeks ago in Norfolk, Va., was found dead behind a Charlotte church, a victim of homicide.

CMPD identified the remains as those of Ashanti Billie.

Billie’s body was found Friday on Griers Grove Road behind East Stonewall AME Zion Church, just off Beatties Ford Road. The Mecklenburg County medical examiner’s office determined that foul play was involved. Authorities have not said how she died.

According to WUSA 9, Billie was last seen Sept. 18 entering a military base, where she worked in a sandwich shop. That same day, her cell phone was found in a dumpster and her car was later found abandoned. Her body was found in Charlotte by a landscaper who was doing work at the Church.

The FBI and Blimpie Subs combined to offer a $20,000 reward to anyone who can help solve the case, WUSA 9 reported.
