Police are conducting a homicide investigation after a man was shot and killed overnight in northwest Charlotte Thursday.
A call was made to police just before 3 a.m. about an assault with a deadly weapon in the 2200 block of Catherine Simmons Avenue. CMPD located the victim, 31-year-old Jonathan Cauthen, with an apparent gunshot wound. When Medic arrived, Cauthen was pronounced dead on the scene.
Charlotte police have not identified a suspect and were asking if any witnesses saw what happened to Cauthen.
This is marks the city’s 67th homicide of the year.
