A 29-year-old man is dead and a relative is charged with murder following a shooting late Wednesday near Charlotte’s Druid Hills neighborhood.
CMPD identified the victim as William Jerome Rann Jr.
The shooting was reported shortly after 9:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of Dogwood Avenue. When officers arrived they found a man with an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead.
Investigators identified a suspect at the scene as 29-year-old Michael Norman Smith. He was taken to police headquarters for questioning and later charged.
A CMPD spokeswoman said the suspect and victim were related.
