Police on Wednesday arrested a 20-year-old man and charged him with attempted murder in connection with a shooting in southeast Charlotte.

The suspect was identified as Steven Black.

According to police, Black on late Monday fired into a moving car that was occupied by a 17-year-old male and a female. The male, who was driving, was struck by at least one bullet. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The female was uninjured.

The shooting happened near the intersection of McMullen Way and Monroe Road. Police said the male victim had gone to that location to meet someone.

Black also was charged with possession of marijuana, up to a half ounce.
