The suspect, Steven Black, was charged with murder.
Police on Wednesday arrested a 20-year-old man and charged him with attempted murder in connection with a shooting in southeast Charlotte.
The suspect was identified as Steven Black.
According to police, Black on late Monday fired into a moving car that was occupied by a 17-year-old male and a female. The male, who was driving, was struck by at least one bullet. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The female was uninjured.
The shooting happened near the intersection of McMullen Way and Monroe Road. Police said the male victim had gone to that location to meet someone.
A witness reported seeing someone running from the scene. CMPD deployed a helicopter and dogs to track the suspect, who got away.
Investigators later identified the suspect at Black, a CMPD spokeswoman said. Members of the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team arrested him Wednesday – a day after his 20th birthday.
